CHRISTCHURCH, U.K. – June 29th, 2021 – Curtiss-Wright’s Industrial Division has today announced the introduction of a new Global Strip Switch (GSS) featuring a unique patent pending button design with excellent tactile feedback; designed for 1.5 million button presses. Ideal for use in arduous on or off-highway commercial vehicle applications; with automatic transmissions, automated-manual transmissions, or hybrid and electric powertrains.

Available with three or four buttons in horizontal or vertical mounting options, the strip switch is designed to have two independent non-contacting switch closures per button for redundancy. Each elastomeric button features dual-color backlighting to offer white night-time and green telltale button selection illumination. Additionally, optional custom software and button graphics are available in both the three or four button versions for any transmission shifter or CAN controller application.

Designed and manufactured to meet the highest standards for performance and reliability, the strip switch uses the J1939 Protocol CAN output and benefits from an integral 12-pin, 16-22 AWG Deutsch sealed connector with an operating voltage from 9V to 32V.

Key features of the GSS include:

  • Three or four button versions
  • Dual-color backlighting
  • Dual-independent non-contacting, high cycle-life switching
